Why does Brahms’s Second Symphony feel so warm?
This concert program travels from the theatrical charm, supernatural suspense, and impassioned solo voice of Schubert, Weber, and Mendelssohn into Brahms’s Second Symphony, a masterwork that weaves contrasting shades of darkness and light into an earned, glowing warmth.
How does Ravel create orchestral color?
This concert program explores how music gives voice to memory, dreams, and conviction, moving from the courtly elegance of Ravel’s Pavane, the enchanted slumber of Humperdinck’s Evening Prayer, and Mendelssohn’s sweeping “Reformation” Symphony into the brilliant, jazz-infused energy and exquisite craftsmanship of Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G.

Stay for the reception.
After every concert, the doors open to a reception where you can meet Music Director Dr. Alvin Ho and the musicians face to face, glass of champagne in hand. It's where longtime patrons run into old friends and first-timers get talked into a season pass. Nobody rushes out the moment the applause ends — that's kind of the point.
Listen for yourself!
