Mediterranean Mezze offers a vibrant celebration of Mediterranean spirit through a colorful orchestral program. The concert opens with Berlioz’s Roman Carnival Overture, a lively and radiant burst of musical energy that evokes the excitement and joy of a Roman street festival. Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4 “Italian” follows, inspired by the composer’s travels and full of sunny warmth, spirited rhythms, and joyful melodies that capture the Mediterranean’s vibrant character. The program features Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s Guitar Concerto No. 2, brought to life by renowned Italian guitarist Carlo Fierens, delivering a romantic and cinematic exploration of Mediterranean lyricism.
