Debussy’s shimmering Faun, Ravel’s magical Mother Goose Suite, and Fauré’s luminous Requiem come together in an evening of enchantment, imagination, and transcendent choral beauty with the Fort Myers Symphonic Mastersingers.
This luminous program celebrates the richness of French musical imagination, from the sensual to the sublime. Debussy’s Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune opens a dreamworld of shimmering strings and drifting woodwinds, capturing the mythical faun’s languid reverie and transporting listeners into the heart of Impressionism. Ravel’s Ma mère l’Oye (Mother Goose Suite) follows with delicately colored evocations of fairy tales and childhood wonder, where enchanted gardens, slumbering princesses, and magical dances sparkle with charm and grace. The afternoon culminates in Fauré’s Requiem, a masterpiece of radiant serenity.
