Journey through four distinct Romantic worlds—from Schubert’s theatrical brightness and Weber’s supernatural forest to Mendelssohn’s impassioned violin writing and the warmth of Brahms’s Second Symphony.
The concert features violinist Katherine Anderson performing the first movement of Mendelssohn’s beloved Violin Concerto. The program culminates in Brahms’s Symphony No. 2, a work filled with flowing melodies, changing light and an undercurrent of darkness that makes its radiant conclusion all the more powerful.
