Who We're Looking For
The Music You Will Play
Our 2027 season includes some of the most exciting and rewarding works in the orchestral repertoire—Respighi’s Pines of Rome, Brahms’s Symphony No. 2, Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G, Mendelssohn’s “Reformation” Symphony, Barber’s Violin Concerto, and Gershwin’s An American in Paris. It is music that challenges the orchestra, rewards serious preparation, and reminds us why we play.

Request an audition today!
Candidates should prepare two contrasting solo selections, each approximately two to three minutes long: one fast selection demonstrating technical proficiency and one slow, lyrical selection. A single three-to-five-minute work containing both contrasting sections is also acceptable.

Our Audition Process
January - April
During the season, we hold in-person auditions, and our rehearsal schedule is listed here for your convenience. We will arrange an audition time that works for both you and our rehearsal schedule. For the most part, our rehearsals take place at Artis-Naples.
May - December
During the off-season, candidates may submit a video audition. Applicants who meet our qualifications will be invited to a brief Zoom conversation so that we can learn more about one another and answer questions.

Who We Are Looking For
Volunteer Musicians
We welcome accomplished musicians with significant orchestral experience, including retired professionals, music educators, seasonal residents, and advanced players who pursued careers outside music.
Examples of the musicians we hope to attract include:

Active freelance orchestral musicians who wish to volunteer their talents

Current and retired music educators

University and college music faculty

Private music teachers and studio instructors

Former conservatory or university music performance majors

Musicians who once pursued performing professionally before choosing another career

Military band veterans and retired military musicians

Seasonal residents ("snowbirds") who perform with orchestras elsewhere during the year

Chamber musicians with significant orchestral experience

Church musicians with strong orchestral backgrounds

Advanced amateur musicians with substantial orchestral performance experience

Musicians returning to orchestral performance after a career outside of music

Orchestra musicians relocating to Southwest Florida

Experienced players who simply want to continue making great music in a serious orchestral setting
Professional Musicians
We also audition experienced professional performers for paid section and leadership positions. Compensation depends upon the orchestra’s needs, the position, and the musician’s experience.
