Fate & Liberty

Moorings Presbyterian Church

Fate suggests a predetermined course of events and Liberty evokes both free will and personal choice. The interplay between these concepts raises interesting questions about the extent to which our lives are governed by destiny versus our ability to shape our own paths.

Jan 25, 2025, 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Moorings Presbyterian Church, 791 Harbour Dr, Naples, FL 34103, USA

About the event

Program:

Verdi: Nabucco Overture

Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 18

Beethoven: Symphony No. 5, Op. 67

Fate and liberty are opposing forces - Fate suggests a predetermined course of events and Liberty evokes both free will and personal choice. The interplay between these concepts raises interesting questions about the extent to which our lives are governed by destiny versus our ability to shape our own paths.

Many composers have tackled these questions which we will attempt to illustrate through works by Verdi, Rachmaninoff and Beethoven.
